Cloud Computing is an exciting and rapidly expanding area. More than 54% of CIO’s now use cloud computing in their organisations; an increase of 16% from last year (Deloitte survey).

However, one of the main difficulties in this sector is finding skilled staff to fill the roles available.  ICT Ireland has said that three-quarters of Irish ICT employers have vacancies in their companies. Enterprise Ireland’s recent campaign, It’s Happening Here, highlighted that while the Irish-owned software sector is growing fast, more than 600 companies in this sector are struggling to fill a variety of roles.

If you are interested in a career in Cloud Computing, NCI is running an Information Event next week, Wednesday March 13th from 11-12, that could help. Speakers will be discussing the industry and the importance it has in Ireland’s changing technological landscape. There will also be information on the career paths available to graduates and the course options available at NCI, particularly the new masters courses in MSc in Cloud Computing or the MSc in Web Technologies.

Speakers include:

  • Dr. Horacio González-Vélez (pictured above, Head of Cloud Competency Centre at NCI)
  • Stephen Moffatt (Cloud Computing Leader at IBM)
  • Neil Sullivan (Senior Infrastructure Specialist at Stelfox)
  • Current and past NCI Masters students
