National College of Ireland has won the Excellence in Employability Award in the AHECS Employment and Engagement Awards 2013, presented at the gradireland Graduate Recruitment Awards last night.
The award, given by the Association of Higher Education Career Services, was given for NCI’s work in “Rethinking, reskilling, reinventing – dealing with the challenge of unemployment and career change in challenging times.”
The Employability and Engagement Awards are nominated by AHECS Careers members and showcase the very best in Employability and Employer Engagement initiatives during the year.
Caroline Kennedy, Careers Officer at NCI, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to win this award for our work with 127 students on an ICT skills conversion course, who were seeking to not only regain employment but also secure a career change. Our approach included practical career management and training collaboratively designed and delivered with industry, and one-to-one tailored careers coaching. The success of the programme is evidenced by the fact that 81% of the students are now in employment.”
