National College of Ireland offers a very supportive learning environment with a wide range of supports and a dedicated Student Support team, who are happy to help with any assistance you might require throughout your time with us. We are available for students to drop in and have a chat about what help they may need and we will ensure you are given access to whatever support you may require. Below are some of the specific supports available
The Mathematics Support Service
The Mathematics Support Service provides an informal environment for students who are experiencing difficulties or wish to improve their understanding of and confidence in mathematical concepts.
The Learning Development Service
The Learning Development Service is centred around core areas such as academic writing, reading, researching, studying, note-taking, exam revision and in general, a focus on aiding a student in all manners of academic advancement.
The NCI Disability Office
The NCI Disability Offices role is to support any student in NCI who has a disability, learning difficulty, mental health condition or significant on-going illness.
The Office believes the most important first step is to make sure that you can access supports in an open relaxed, friendly and confidential way.
The Learning Support Service
This service is available to all students registered with the Learning & Disability Support service.
It offers an understanding supportive environment that recognises and help students to overcome their difficulties. The service helps you to adapt your learning by identifying your individual learning differences and supports you as you acquire the skills to learn independently.
The service offers:
- Small group workshops;
- Individual learning support;
- Proof-reading service;
- Information on useful support materials/resources.
Student Retention and Attendance Support Service
The role of the Student Retention and Attendance Support Service is to ensure that if a student is finding it difficult to attend college, due to academic or non-academic pressures, that their individual needs are supported in an attempt to help the student to re-commit to their studies.
NCI has a wide range of Student Supports which are aimed at assisting the student in commit to their studies here at NCI. These supports include financial, personal, social and academic.
The role of the office is also to assist students with progression queries throughout their time in NCI. Students often need advice on how to approach a particular situation, potential options available to them, how to inform the college of personal circumstances, how to communicate feedback etc.
