Mobile technology is one of the most rapidly changing and in demand areas of software development today – which makes it a tremendously exciting area in which to study or work.

The new generation of smartphones and tablets has dramatically changed the way we communicate, access and share information – creating opportunities for innovators, and a huge demand for qualified technical professionals, in the process. An MSc in Mobile Technologies has never been of more value.

This Mashable article cites ‘mobile, big data, analytics and privacy’ as the hottest areas in tech this year, offering "a very handsome average base salary" along with “challenging, satisfying work.” Mobile Application Development Jobs are given the #1 spot in this list of the hottest IT jobs of 2014.

Why? Well, sectors like banking, health and education are being transformed by mobile tech - and our appetite for apps to inform, educate, entertain or just make life a little easier shows no sign of slowing down. This is great news, if this is an industry you’re interested in working in – there is already huge demand worldwide for those with the right qualifications and skills.

Whether you want to work for a company or start your own business, the MSc in Mobile Technologies at National College of Ireland is a great place to start.

NCI students are acknowledged to be at the forefront of innovation in this field – read what The Irish Times had to say about the talent and skills at this year's Student Project Showcase.
