As part of her transition year work experience programme, Lisa Murray joined NCI's busy marketing department where she worked across a range of digital projects. From email marketing to social media, websites and graphic design, Lisa made her mark by supporting the team with tasks which include creating content, analysing campaign results and learning how to optimise websites.

Your college years will be filled with so many enriching experiences. You will make friends for life, join a mix of clubs and societies, attend educational and social events, and it will all lead up to the day you graduate with your classmates.

Conor completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Further Education in 2020 after which he joined the NCI team to support students with a diverse range of educational needs and learning differences. Grant Thornton Ireland recently reported that the total economic cost of cybercrime in Ireland in 2020 was €9.6 billion, a massive increase since their first report revealed that the cost was €630 million back in 2014.

Rohan Singh, International Student Ambassador, shares how the NCI International Support Welcome Programme helped him make friends and prepare for his life in Ireland and NCI. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, students can choose to start their studies entirely online from their home country and travel to Ireland later in the semester. Rohan decided to travel to Ireland at the start of the semester to begins the MSc in Cybersecurity programme at National College of Ireland, based in the heart of Dublin.

However, many international students who are visiting Ireland for the first time can worry about the availability of certain ingredients to make their traditional dishes.

The word psychology stems from Greek roots: “psyche” means soul or spirit; “logia” means “study of”. Psychology is the academic discipline that studies the mind and behaviour. At NCI, many different facets of psychology are explored, including biological, clinical, developmental, educational, comparative, evolutionary, and social and industrial psychology. The lecturers are all active researchers across these disciplines. We will share insight into some of this research in coming blogposts.

NCI postgraduate student, Kate Morris, shares her story with us to demonstrate that education is not always about going from point A to point B. There may be some hurdles in the way and you may have to follow your gut by taking what feels like a step backwards, while always keeping in mind that everyone's path will be different.
