Dave Allen’s Marketing Mavericks Talk at NCI

The most recent Marketing Mavericks event took place on April 23rd at National College of Ireland with Dave Allen, founding member of the post punk band Gang Of Four, who now works as Adjunct Lecturer on Digital Strategy at the University of Oregon and Director of Artist & Music Industry Advocacy at Beats Music. Dave, who describes his role with Beats as ‘part education, part awareness’, was drawn to the company because it is led by people who are strongly rooted in the music industry – from noted producer Jimmy Iovine to Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and Dr Dre.

One of the things that crops up again and again when you talk to an NCI student or graduate is the great buzz around the place. Our modern, city-centre campus has a lovely atmosphere and the size of the college is definitely conducive to the friendly and welcoming vibe. This lovely video, NCI is Happy, sums it up perfectly. Created by a student team led by Katie Donohoe for this year’s Clubs and Socs Awards and Formal Ball, it features full and part-time students from our business and computing courses here in Dublin, along with a few cameo appearances from lecturers and staff.

Greg O’Donoghue, VP of NCI’s SU, is announced VP for Welfare at the Union of Students of Ireland.

There are celebrations on campus today at the news that Greg O'Donoghue, outgoing Vice President of National College of Ireland's Students’ Union, has been voted in as Vice President for Welfare at the Union of Students of Ireland. In his work at NCI, Greg (pictured far right in the image above) was committed to championing welfare projects and supported students both collectively and through individual casework.

NCI's psychology series continues with Dave Malone of Paralympics Ireland High performance is all about coping at the edge of chaos, we were told at the latest in NCI’s series of free lunchtime events, In The Psychologists’ Chair. The events, in association with The Irish Times, continued with guest speaker Dave Malone, one of Ireland’s most decorated Paralympics athletes and the recently appointed Performance Manager for Paralympics Ireland. If you would like to study psychology in Dublin, this series is a must.
