Dear Students, It has been my pleasure to represent you as your Students’ Union President, even through these extraordinary times. In the last 7 months, as a Union, we have applied an ‘open door’ policy, we maintained visibility, and we ensured that you were represented at every level in NCI and nationally.

Nurudeen Oyewole studied journalism at undergraduate level and gained experience as a journalist in his native Nigeria before deciding to further his education by joining NCI as an international student.

The 30% Club is a campaign group with a single goal; to achieve better gender balance at all levels in business. One way the group strives to increase gender diversity in Irish businesses is by partnering with third-level institutions to offer scholarship programmes.

Data science is a relatively new and emerging field. As it’s not a well-known study area, it causes uncertainty for second-level students who are considering their college options and applying for courses through the CAO.

We are living in extraordinary times. Just over four weeks ago, all educational institutes were asked to close their doors to assist in containing the spread of COVID-19, and all our staff and students went home. The instruction came suddenly, we closed the same day as the Government announcement. But thanks to good continuity planning delivered through the hard work, cooperation and adaptability of staff and students, National College of Ireland was able to quickly move all its programmes to online delivery. At the same time, we were able to continue to provide access to library services, student services, academic support, disability support and our careers service, for all our learners.

As students are facing very particular challenges while studying at home, we're sharing our Top Three evergreen tips and two tips specific to studying while social distancing:

The Early Learning Initiative at National College of Ireland has a deep and active connection with the community of the North East Inner City. Staffed primarily by people from the area, ELI works with other organisations, community groups and schools, through vital funding partnerships with government, businesses and corporations, to weave a network of support for families and children across the NEIC.

We asked Dr Josephine Bleach, Director of the Early Learning Initiative here at National College of Ireland, for some advice and tips for parents during this particularly challenging time.

To give students a certain level of certainty during this unpredictable time, National College of Ireland confirmed that classes would continue to be delivered online for Semester 2 in November. During this time, returning and new students have access to a number of useful resources from various departments in the college. Originally from India, MSc in Cloud Computing graduate, Surya Kumar Govindan, says that it was his long-term dream to study abroad and his desire to progress his cloud computing knowledge led him to choose Ireland and National College of Ireland where he is currently an international student ambassador.
